ANNAPOLIS, MD, August 10, 2021 — Carbon Sink LLC (Carbon Sink) welcomes the addition of Paul Hanrahan as a senior advisor to the Carbon Sink Advisory Board.  Paul brings a wealth of experience in the global power and energy infrastructure sectors, and his depth of knowledge in renewable and low-carbon energy will complement the existing Advisory Board expertise.

Paul most recently served as CEO of Hygo Energy Transition Limited, which he sold to New Fortress Energy in April 2021.  He also serves on the boards of publicly traded Ingredion Inc (NYSE: INGR); and Virgin Investment backed renewable energy firm BMR Energy; and Iv3 Aqua, a water desalination company.  Paul is also an advisor to JERA Co Inc, a Japan-based energy firm. He was previously the CEO of Globeleq Ltd; was founder and CEO of American Capital Energy and Infrastructure Management; and from 2002 to 2011 was the President and CEO of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), a Fortune 500 company. As CEO of AES, he spearheaded the creation of AES’ renewable energy business.  

Paul holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.  He also served as an officer on a fast-attack nuclear submarine.
